Frequently Asked Questions

This page will grow and evolve in direct response to your questions. • What is basswood?

Ecologically friendly non-rainforest Basswood is our material of choice for our wood slats and rails. Basswood is the premier wood for the manufacture of high quality wood window blinds. It is light weight, dimensionally stable and takes a finish beautifully. It is very similar in appearance to maple, and is grown commercially in many regions of eastern North America. • I'm considering putting wood blinds in by kitchen.  Do you recommend this?  I'm wondering if there is too much moisture in the kitchen and will it damage the blinds.

Normal kitchen moisture is not a problem. Wood blinds work well in kitchens and bathrooms, both of which are often quite high in humidity. The only time you would encounter any problem is when the blinds are actually going to be getting wet, like immediately above a bathtub where they would be exposed to water splashing from a shower. In such circumstances, our faux wood blinds are a better choice. Our faux wood blinds stand up well even in shower areas where they can be splashed with water.

    • Do I qualify for free shipping?

Our standard shipping method is by Purolator ground ( http://www.purolator.com ) or UPS ground, and is included in our prices to most locations within Canada or the United States on purchases of a minimum $500. Remote northern locations and areas not served by Purolator or FedEx ground will be charged  additional delivery fees in direct relation to the additional costs incurred. If in doubt, please call us for confirmation.

Blinds over 8 feet in width may also be subject to a shipping surcharge.

    • Are these true custom manufactured blinds?

Yes! Every blind is individually manufactured to your unique specifications of size, colour, control positions or one of our many decorative tape ladders and other options. These are not the low end mass produced 'cut down' blinds being sold by many of our competitors.
